VIRGIN TV ANYWHERE ON ANDROID DEVICES
It is important for us to protect our content owners' rights and also to provide an excellent quality service, and for these reasons we only allow Virgin TV Anywhere to be used on certain devices.
We have tested Virgin TV Anywhere on a wide range of popular Android mobiles and tablets, and we list these devices as being Fully Supported.
Other devices that haven't been tested have been enabled to stream and while we expect them to work, we are not able to give support for the TV Anywhere app on these devices. There are a few Android devices that are unable to watch live TV and will only be able to use the app to manage their TiVo.
What devices can I use?
We have enabled all Android devices to download the app to view the TV listings, use the remote control functionality and set and manage recordings. A wide range of Android mobiles and tablets have been enabled to stream live TV. There are some devices which we know will not work for streaming live TV. There are some devices which we know will not work for streaming live TV and these devices are listed here.
How can I find out what device I have?
In general you can find these details by clicking on Settings on your Android mobile or tablet, and then click on About device, About tablet or About phone. Depending on the version of Android your device is running on, you may see Model number and Android version in the menu, or you may need to tap on Phone identity and Software information respectively to get this information.
My device isn't listed as Manage TiVo only but it still won't stream
If your tablet or mobile isn't listed as a device that can only be used to Manage TiVo and you are still having problems streaming live TV, there are some other factors that may prevent it from working:
- Older devices may have older versions of Android; in general you require at least Android version 2.3.3 on mobiles and version 4.0 on tablets; you may need to update your device to the latest available operating system, but please be aware that Virgin Media cannot be responsible for any problems you may encounter whilst upgrading your operating system
- Different phone providers or mobile network operators may supply slightly different versions of the operating system, not all of which will work with TV Anywhere
- Devices supplied from outside the UK may not work, as they may also have different versions of the operating system, not all of which will work with TV Anywhere
- TV Anywhere will not work on rooted devices, where unauthorised modifications have been made to the operating system, as these may prevent our content owners' rights from being protected.

Can I still use TV Anywhere if my device is listed as Manage TiVo only?
Devices that are Fully Supported have been thoroughly tested by us and we know they will work with the TV Anywhere app.
As there are thousands of Android mobile and tablet devices available, we haven't been able to test them all. We have enabled a wide range of devices to stream live TV and we hope that these devices work. You can view the list of enabled devices here.
There are some devices which we know have issues streaming live TV and we have disabled these devices. Sometimes older devices do not provide a reasonable quality of streaming or are unable to provide an adequate level of content security, and with newer devices there may be other factors that prevent streaming. We try to get as many devices working as possible and work to resolve known issues where we can.
If your device is unable to stream live TV, you can still use the app to set and manage your recordings and TiVo.
What are the minimum requirements needed on my device to use TV Anywhere?
In general you require at least v 2.2.3 on Android mobiles and Android v4 on tablets. Check here for more information.
If you are having problems finding or installing TV Anywhere on your Android app, you may need to update your device to the latest available operating system, but please be aware that Virgin Media can not be responsible for any problems you may encounter whilst upgrading your operating system.
Why can't I watch some channels or shows?
This is likely to be because the channel isn't available on TV Anywhere. In general, the same channels and shows are available on all tablets and mobiles. Sometimes content providers request that individual shows are blanked as they don’t have the rights to stream this show on TV Anywhere. You may still be able to set your TiVo box to record these show though. Individual shows that are blanked within an available channel will be blanked on all mobile and tablet devices. To be able to stream a live channel, there should be a Wi-Fi symbol next to the channel in the guide, and the channel should not be greyed out as a channel you don't have in your TV package.
