OK, no excuses. If you're reading this, you need to declutter.
Let's get to work and see if we can make you some money along the way.
Start small. Do it bit by bit, a cupboard at a time, then you won't give up halfway through.
If you find yourself spending minutes thinking about some things, put anything you're uncertain about in a "maybe" pile.
Then, when you've gone through your stuff, come back to your pile and then think about it. If you don't have time to think about it, put it in a box, and if you've not opened it when you next have a clearout, you know what to do.
Now you need to decide what you are going to do with all the stuff you don't want.
If it's broken beyond repair, take it to the tip. Textiles can be recycled, so don't put them in the bin even if no one would use them.
If your unwanted stuff still has life left in it, the chances are that someone on eBay will want it, whatever it is.
You can find out what an item usually goes for by going to the advanced search page and searching for it with the Completed listings only box ticked:
The results page will show how much the item has sold for in recent auctions. If it could make you a few quid, sell it on eBay.
Start selling on eBay or read our beginners' guide to selling on eBay.
If it's of little value, like paperback books or a dusty spice rack, give it to a charity shop.
If it's too big or too much hastle to sell and post, you could advertise it on Freecycle.
There are Freecycle groups all over the UK that enable you to give away your unwanted stuff to people in your area through their website and emails. Whoever you give your stuff to then comes and picks it up, preventing it becoming landfill and giving you some space back.
However you get rid of your unwanted stuff, you'll feel a whole lot better when it's gone!
