Broadband Extras FAQ’s

We're making lots of changes and improvements here at Virgin Media – and one of them affects your Broadband Extras service. We’re still putting the finishing touches to some fantastic free new services, the first of which is called V Stuff, but before it arrives here’s all you need to know about what’s happening to the old Broadband Extras service.

What’s happening to Music Extras?

Sonic Selector

If you still have have credits left in your Sonic Selector account, make sure you use them up by March 16th because you won’t be able to access the Sonic Selector services through Broadband Extras after this date.

Licensing your tracks

Got music stored? If somehow your tracks get corrupted or you lose them, you'll still be able to download them again up to three times until the end of 2011. To protect your licenses beyond 2011, it’s important that you burn any previously downloaded tracks to audio-CD using Windows Media Player – otherwise you risk losing them when we switch this service off completely at the end of 2011.

What’s happening to Games Extras?

Oberon games

From the 16th of March, the free games provided by Oberon Media won’t be available to play through Broadband Extras anymore – but don’t worry, if you’d like to continue playing the Broadband Extras games, and hundreds more, you still can! Play games here.

All these games offer a free download, which you can play for up to an hour. Want to own a game forever? You can buy it for as little as £4.95, when you take out a GameSaver subscription. Find out more.

Games Extras desktop icon

This won’t launch any of the free games you download. Instead, the icon will link you through to the Virgin Media website where you can play games through the Virgin Media Games Channel. If you don’t want to play these games, you can just go ahead and delete the icon.

Metaboli games

From 16th March, the video games provided by Metaboli will no longer be available for you to play through Broadband Extras, but you can still enjoy playing them through the Games Channel on the Virgin Media website. Just go to ‘Play Video Games’ or click here to play.

Get a month’s free gaming!

In ‘Play Video Games’, Metaboli has more than 320 great PC games to choose from. The ‘Essential Collection’ offers more than 200 games to download and play every, and costs only £6.95 a month. Plus, if you sign up, we’ll give you the first month free! Just use the code VMGAMES30 at the checkout. Click here to buy now.

Your Metaboli desktop icon

Metaboli’s icon will remain on your desktop, and if you want to keep playing Metaboli games through the Virgin Media website Games channel, you can still use it. Don’t want to play Metaboli games anymore? No problem, just delete the icon.

Freeloader and Lego

From 16th March, Freeloader and Lego services won’t be available anymore, but you’ll still be able to play games like Soduku, Bejeweled, Tombraider and King Pin at virginmedia.com/games for up to a month after this date.

What’s happening to Photo Extras?

Photobox

Although you won’t be able to get free prints from Photobox after the 16th of March, you can still access all the photos that you’ve stored by visiting the Photobox website and logging in.

Once you’re there, your account, photo albums, photo gifts and anything else you’ve ever created will be there – just like before!

Look out for out free photo print service coming soon with V Stuff.
