Entertaining your kids this Christmas

Family activities to keep kids happy

Keep your kids entertained in the run up to Christmas morning with our guide to making the most of the holiday period.

There's food to be bought, cards to be posted and presents to be indecisive about. And on top of it all, you also have to contend with the bored, impatient little people knocking about the house. Sure, you could always keep them quiet by plonking them in front of festive telly, but why not make the most of their school break by putting in some together-time?

Get crafty

One of the best ways to do this is to get them involved in the Crimbo preparations. Tree-decorating day can be an event in itself - why not take them out to an arts and crafts shop and gather together materials for making their own tree decorations?

After the tree's done, they can also spend a whole afternoon making some funky cards for relatives and neighbours. It'll keep them occupied and give them a real sense of achievement - particularly if you put their cards in envelopes and help them post it through letterboxes.

You can also get them involved in making Christmas munchies like tree-shaped biscuits (and if you haven't the time to be a domestic goddess, just grab some pre-made cookie dough from the supermarket.)
