Target:
Facilitate staff fundraising to raise over £65,000 for staff elected local charities on our annual charity day.

How we did:
£54,269 was raised by staff for various charities on Charity Day 2014. Virgin Media matched this pound for pound. 

The detail:
As well as investing in ways to help people get the best out of digital technology, Virgin Media is committed to helping staff directly support their local communities. Our teams are spread right across the UK, so it made sense for people to get stuck into supporting causes and concerns where they live and work.

Charity Day 2014
In 2014, Virgin Media Charity Day saw staff raise just over £54,000 – £11,000 short of our target – for 27 elected local charities in a single day. Virgin Media doubled the amount raised by staff, taking the overall total raised to just over £108,000.
On this day in 2014, all Virgin Media employees came together to dress up, bake cakes, wash cars, and even compete in lemon eating competitions for charities they care about.

Our partnership with Scope
At Virgin Media, we’re making it our mission to ensure all our customers and employees can live truly independent digital lives. We want our products and services to be fully accessible (and enjoyable) for everyone – including those who live with disabilities and those who support them. Our ongoing partnership with Scope will help us meet this objective by driving change within our business, engaging our staff in accessibility and fundraising to support Scope’s work across the UK. Volunteering
Our staff gave over 895 volunteering days to supporting organisations in their communities in 2014. However, we’ve realised that our system of recording volunteering days doesn't give us the full picture of the amount of volunteering that happened across the year. We’re still investigating ways to make this easier in future.
