We score a hat trick for energy efficiency

I'm really pleased to report that The Virgin Media Design, Build and Deploy team has been hoovering up awards for their work on optimisation and energy efficiency across our technical estate.

The first award was secured at the Energy Awards 2015 in the ‘Excellence in Demand Reduction’ category. The team then went on to the DataCenterDynamics Awards 2015 and won to accolades; Data Center Critical Environment Team of the Year, and Energy Efficiency Improver’s categories.

The team were recognised for successfully demonstrating the energy efficiency and cost benefits of Project OREO (Overall Room Energy Optimisation). The project improved the energy performance of our room cooling systems across our top energy consuming offices and technical sites.

So far, the project has reduced energy consumption by 2,360,000kWh across three sites without compromising delivery. That's an energy saving of £257,000 a year.

These are great achievements for the team and demonstrate the efforts made to support our 5 in 5 sustainability goal; to grow our business without increasing our carbon footprint.
