Program shortcuts
Ctrl and A
Selects all the text or objects displayed in the current window.
Ctrl and C
Copies the selected text or object to the Clipboard, leaving the original item in place.
Ctrl and X
Cuts the selected text or object, removing the original item.
Ctrl and V
Pastes the copied text or object from the Clipboard to a selected position on-screen.
Ctrl and Z
Undoes the most recently performed command. Some programs let you keep pressing it to undo all recent actions, while pressing Ctrl and Y will redo them.
Ctrl and N
Opens a new window in the active program. In email applications, it opens a new message window.
Ctrl and P
Brings up the Print box so you print the document, image or web page you’re currently viewing.
Ctrl and S
Saves the file you’re currently working on.
Ctrl and B
Applies bold to the highlighted text in Office programs. See also Ctrl and I, which italicises, and Ctrl and U, which underlines selected text.
