A recent survey by web hosts 1&1 Internet revealed that 46 per cent of small British businesses don't have a website. It also found that 41 per cent of small companies do want a place on the internet but are unsure of what making a website entails.

There is no point in your spending hours creating an amazing site if you choose a domain and site name that no-one will remember. Choose a domain (the bit that comes after the ‘@’) that relates to the purpose of the site, such as .biz (business), .org (organisation) or .me.uk (fact-based, i.e CV).
