Reporting Internet Abuse

There are several ways of reporting abuse depending on whether it is on Virgin Media, or another site, or if it is of a more or less serious nature. Abuse can be via email, or an unpleasant or illegal website, child abusers grooming kids for child abuse, bad behaviour in newsgroups, people trying to get through firewalls, people sending malicious viruses or worms, or scammers trying to defraud you.

Understand the rules and how to make a report
If you are an Virgin Media customer you have agreed to our terms of use and this means that you should abide by our Acceptable Use Policy . We have a special team dedicated to enforcing this so you can also report Virgin Media users who are breaking the rules. Report Virgin Media users here.

Child abuse
The Child Safety and Online Protection Centre handle all child related reports. If you are in the UK then this is the best place to make reports. If it's international (for example on a US website) then you should go to the Virtual Global Taskforce (VGT). The VGT is a partnership of international law enforcement agencies, working together to make the Internet a safer place. Virgin Media supports the VGT in their aims to identify, locate and help children at risk, to hold perpetrators appropriately to account, and help prevent child abuse around the world.

Internet Watch Foundation
The Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) works with Internet Service Providers, Police and Government to try to reduce the availability of illegal Internet content, particularly child abuse images. Virgin Media is a member of the IWF, and we work together to follow their recommendations. If you wish report the content of a particular site to the IWF, you can do so on their website at iwf.org.uk

Reporting non-emergency crime - Police.uk & ACPO

If you wish to report a crime or non-emergency incident to the Police you can now submit a report online using the Police.uk website at www.online.police.uk, which is managed by the Police Information Technology Organisation, on behalf of the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). For emergencies, you should always dial 999.
