The Outnumbered kids, Outnumbered
When it comes to telly kids, you have to go a long way to beat these three little tykes. Tyger Drew-Honey, Daniel Roche and Ramona Marquez are the stars of Outnumbered. Their ability to throw the adult performers off-course with a well-timed line is astonishing. And even if you don’t like the show, we bet you’d still find the kids impressive.
Olivia Kendall, The Cosby Show
Before she grew up to make music, Raven-Symone was most famous for taking the cute toddler part on The Cosby Show. Her role was small - each episode she’d come on, shout “DOKTOW HUSSABOW IGOTYOUA PWESENT”, pull a cute face until the studio audience went ‘aww’ and then leave. But it was a great performance, and we love her for it.
Arnold, Diff’rent Strokes
Remember Diff’rent Strokes? No? Well we bet you do remember Gary Coleman! Just like our previous entry, Gary would pop up once each episode, shout, “What chu talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?”, pull an outlandish facial expression and then walk off. Well, at least it was always fun when he appeared!
Spuggie, Byker Grove
Remember when you spent the afterschool hours jumping up and down and shouting “SPUGGIE!” in a north-east accent? No? Of course you do! To be fair, we can’t really remember who Spuggie was, or what she did. But hearing her name in the intro to Byker Grove kept us shouting her name on a daily basis anyway!
Jake Harper, Two and a Half Men
We have to wonder what life is like growing up alongside Charlie Sheen… Judging from Jake Harper’s ascent to manhood, we have to imagine it must have been pretty crazy. As an adult, Angus Jones (the actor who played Jakey) turned to religion and claimed that Two and a Half Men was filth! We didn’t think it was that bad.
Screech, Saved by the Bell
Who doesn’t remember Screech? Not as handsome as Zack. Not as enigmatic as Lisa Turtle. And not a cool as A.C. Slater. But he still had a nerdy charm all of his own. You might have struck out with all the ladies, Screech, but we still love you!
Doogie Howser, Doogie Howser MD
We always thought Doogie Howser MD was a brilliant show. It was about a brilliant doctor who - get this - was a child! When Doogie actor Neil Patrick Harris grew up he appeared in all sorts of great shows and movies, including How I Met your Mother, and the musical epic Doctor Horrible.
Violet Elizabeth Bott - Just William
Played by Bonnie Langford, Violet Elizabeth Bott was a shrieking, red-headed little girl with a voice like a dentist drill. She’s most famous for her super effective threat, "I'll thcream and thcream and thcream 'till I'm thick". Well she was certainly memorable!
Wee Jimmy Krankie, The Krankies
Wee Jimmy Krankie was simply amazing. His timing, his professionalism, the close relationship with his father - all were so incredible that we’d be forgiven for thinking that Wee Jimmy wasn’t a little boy at all, but an actress in disguise! We’d be wrong though. He was definitely a real boy. Just like Pinocchio.
