The lowdown:
Although it has by far the largest number of games available for any of the new home consoles the Xbox 360 is still seen by many as a hardcore gamer's system. This is beginning to change though and Xbox Live is leagues better than any other console's online service. The Core and Arcade versions don't have a hard drive though so the Premium model is the best value for money.
Value for money:

Future proof:

Range of games:

Pros:
Greatest number of exclusive titles and widest developer support.
Normally has best versions of multiformat games.
Xbox Live is by far the best online service, although it does have a monthly fee.
Cons:
Variety of games still relatively limited, especially for non-hardcore games.
Needs a separate drive to play HD-DVD movies.
Confusing range of console models with no hard drive as standard.
