3. Who knows what’s going on?...
Particularly in Half-Life 2, you’ll go for long stretches without properly knowing why you’re there, where you’re ultimately heading or what’s going on. Snippets of back-stories are tantalisingly offered, but anyone who tells you they’re completely on top of events in the games is completely lying. However, make no mistake – being kept in the dark will just make you want to play even more. Events crack on at great pace because there are no cut-scenes to interrupt the flow: absolutely everything is seen through Gordon’s eyes.
