Setting up Mail for Mac OS X 10.1 and 10.2

This section contains a step-by-step guide that instructs you on how to set up Mail for Mac, on OS X 10.1 or 10.2.


To set up Mail for Mac:

  1. Start up Mail.
  2. From the Mail menu, select Preferences, and then select Accounts.
  3. Click on Create Account.
  4. Set your Account type to POP.
  5. In the description box, type Virgin Broadband.
  6. In the Email Address text box, type in your email address, which will be in one of the following formats:
    your.name@ntlworld.com, or
    your.name@blueyonder.co.uk. or
    your.name@virginmedia.com
    where your.name is the first part of your email address.
  7. Type your name in the Name box.
  8. In the Host Name text box, type either:
    pop.ntlworld.com (if the last bit of your email address is @ntlworld.com), or
    pop3.blueyonder.co.uk (if the last bit of your email address is @blueyonder.co.uk), or
    pop3.virginmedia.com (if the last bit of your email address is @virginmedia.com).
  9. At the Username and Password boxes, type in your email address and password.
  10. In the SMTP Host text box, type either:
    smtp.ntlworld.com (if the last bit of your email address is @ntlworld.com), or
    smtp.blueyonder.co.uk (if the last bit of your email address is @blueyonder.co.uk), or
    smtp.virginmedia.com (if the last bit of your email address is @virginmedia.com)
  11. Click on the Account Options tab, and make sure that the option Delete messages on server after downloading is ticked.
  12. Click on the OK button.

That's it! Your email address is set up, and ready for use in Mail for Mac.
