To set up a Virgin Media email address on Outlook Express 5
- Double-click on the Outlook Express icon on your computer's desktop (similar to the image displayed below).

If you do not have this icon on your desktop, click on the Start button, select All Programs, then select Outlook Express.
The Outlook Express main window displays, as shown below:

- Click on the Tools menu to display a sub-menu, as shown below:
- Click on Accounts. The Internet Accounts windows displays.
- Click on the Add button to display a sub-menu, than click on Mail (as shown below):

The following screen displays:

- Enter your name in the Display name text box. This is the name that the recipient of any emails you send will see in their From field. Most people choose to use their full name (for example Richard Branson) for this purpose, however you can choose anything you like. This does not have to be the same as your email name.
- Click on Next. The following screen displays:

- Make sure that the I already have an e-mail address that I’d like to use button is selected, then type your email address into the E-mail address text box. This will be in the form
your.name@ntlworld.com or
your.name@blueyonder.co.uk
For example, if you created an alias of Richard.Branson, then type in Richard.Branson@... - Click on Next. The following screen displays:

- At the My incoming mail server is a … server drop-down list, select POP3.
- At the Incoming mail (…) server text box, type in either:
pop.ntlworld.com if your email address ends in @ntlworld.com, or
pop3.blueyonder.co.uk if your email address ends in @blueyonder.co.uk - At the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server text box, type in either:
smtp.ntlworld.com if your email address ends in @ntlworld.com, or
smtp.blueyonder.co.uk if your email address ends in @blueyonder.co.uk - Click on Next. The following window displays:
- At the Account name and Password prompts, enter your email address and password.
- If you don’t want to type in your password every time you open your mailbox, click on Remember password to insert a tick.
- Click on Next. The following screen displays:
- This means you have successfully set up Outlook Express 5 for your Virgin Media email alias.
- Click on Finish. You are returned to the Internet Accounts window. The email account that you just created is now displayed, as shown in the example below:
- If there is more than one email account listed, you can choose to set your newly created account as your default account. Setting it as the default means that it will be the account which will always be used to send your email, unless you specify otherwise.
To do this, simply click on your chosen email account to highlight it, and then click on the Set as Default button.
- Click on the Close button in order to close the Internet Accounts window and return to the main Outlook Express window.




That's it! Your email address is set up, and ready for use in Outlook Express 5.
