Check the physical set up of your modem.

As a basic check, make sure that all the power leads and cables are in place and secure. Also, if you’re using a router, hub or switch in a home network setup, then try disconnecting from this device, and connecting your computer direct to the broadband modem. If you still cannot connect, reboot both the modem and the computer.
