What are the risks from Pop-ups?
Though intrusive and irritating, most pop-ups are harmless. However, some can carry dangerous viruses or offensive material. Pop-ups can range from a single window carrying an advertisement to the more extreme end of the scale, where cascades of windows are opened more quickly than they can be closed down.
Malicious pop-ups often relate to spurious adverts, for example, for an application that will remove spyware from your PC. Some pop-up adverts can even list your IP address and ISP name.
What should I do?
Install PCguard security tools and manage your pop-up experience. Some sites use pop-ups to give you more information so make sure you know how to temporarily disable the blocker.
