We’ll send you confirmation when your broadband has been activated – so please don’t install your wireless router until you hear from us. Just check to see if we’ve sent you an email to confirm that you’re up and running.
Before you start
- Do you have a broadband modem already installed? If you do, uninstall the modem before you begin.
- Is your computer wireless-enabled? If your computer has built-in wireless, please make sure that it is switched on. If you are using a wireless adapter, make sure it is enabled. Refer to the documentation supplied with your wireless equipment for details.
Installing your wireless router
Just follow these simple steps to set up your wireless router and get online.
Note: You can connect your computer to the router using either a wireless connection (recommended), or a wired connection. If you want to use a wired connection, check that your computer is close enough to the router to be connected by the yellow Ethernet cable.
To get set up:
- Make sure you are logged into your computer as an administrator.
This might be the login you use on your computer anyway, or you may have to log off and log in again as, for example, admin. If you’re not sure, check the User Guide that came with your Operating System. - Insert the Wireless Set-up CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive. The screen shown below opens:
- Click on Next, and follow the on-screen instructions to install Wireless Manager and begin setting up the router.
Just follow the instructions in Wireless Manager to install the router – you can also use the steps below. - Place the wireless router close to the main phone socket in your house, and within reach of a power socket.
- Unplug your telephone from the telephone wall socket.
- Install the ADSL filter we supplied.
- Connect the power adapter to the router, and plug it into the power socket.
- On the front panel of the router, check that the Power light and the DSL light are both lit green.
When you reach this stage, the following screen opens: - You now have the choice of connecting your computer to the router, using either a wireless or a wired connection.
If your computer has built-in wireless, or you have installed a wireless adapter, click on Wireless and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup. If your computer doesn’t have a wireless connection, click on Wired, and follow the on-screen instructions. Connecting your computer to the router using a wire is also described in the next step. - Plug one end of the yellow Ethernet cable into an Ethernet port on your computer (D), and the other into any Ethernet (LAN) port on the back of your Wireless router.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.

Note: If this screen does not open, browse the contents of the CD, then find and double click on the file setup.exe.
To do this:
a. Plug the ADSL filter into the main phone socket in your house, and connect the phone to the filter’s phone line connector. (A):

b. Using the grey telephone cable we supplied, connect the ADSL port (B) of the router to the ADSL port (C) of the filter:

Note: If you use more than one phone outlet in your home, you’ll need a filter for every telephone or other piece of equipment (like a fax machine) that uses the same phone line as your router. You can buy more by visiting our Equipment Shop.
