Dads can be second class citizens when it comes to treats. Our imaginations often fail us around June and too often we resort to giving him a hand cleaning the car.
Well, put down that chamois leather and treat Dad to something a little more memorable than a vacuumed boot this Father's Day.
Exeter Summer Festival
The last two weeks of June are taken up by the Exeter Summer Festival which opens at the start of the Father's Day weekend.
Musical acts include The Stranglers, Dawn Penn and Eddi Reader (he'll know who they all are), with spoken word and comedy from Jimmy Carr, John Sergeant and Marc Sinden who performs on Father's Day itself.
There are also a number of free street events taking place during that weekend.
Royal College of Art - The Great Exhibition 2007
Is your dad an art lover? The Royal College of Art in London is hosting the Great Exhibition 2007 over the Father's Day weekend.
This is an exhibition of work by some of the UK's best young artists held in an innovative tent gallery in the grounds of the college.
More than 40 artists, all students or graduates of the college, are taking part so expect to see work by some future stars.
Bike Week - go on a cycle ride
The week of Father's Day is also Bike Week, designed to promote cycling in the UK.
As this mode of transport is healthy, environmentally friendly and rewarding, why not take dad on a family cycle ride?
Don't worry if you're not aware of any cycle routes, the Sustrans website features details of cycling routes which are extremely near to 75% of the UK's population.
So pack a picnic, strap on your helmets and get pedalling.
Knebworth Cars In The Park
The motoring enthusiasts at Andrew Greenwood are bringing the cream of their collection to Knebworth for a Father's Day programme of entertainment.
Entry to the park is as standard, but you can expect to see enough classic and performance cars to make your dad go British racing green with envy.
Get grilling
Summer means barbecues, and the National Barbecue Association's Battle of the Barbis happens to fall on Father's Day this year.
While it's too late to enter yourself or your dad, you can still mark the occasion by firing up the barbi.
Try something a bit different from the usual sausages and burgers - our selection of barbecue recipes should give you some ideas, and we've even got advice on how to light the fire - and give dad a meal he'll remember.
