10th place: Trattoria Verdi
Lasagne is one of Britain’s best-loved dishes, with 41 per cent of Brits knowing the dish so well that they can make it without a recipe.
But that still doesn’t stop us from being lazy and buying supermarket oven-ready lasagnes. We look at 10 brands (including our own homemade version) to see which ones would make Mama cry with happiness, or cry with shame.
Name: Trattoria Verdi
Cost: £2.39 (1kg) (24p per 100g)
Appearance: Looks very white, on a plate it just disappears into this beige gloop.
Health (per 100g): 120kcal, 2.8g sat fat.
Health per serving: 598kcal, 14g sat fat.
Taste: Actually disgusting. This is bland and revolting. It tastes like slightly-flavoured savoury milk and the 20% beef content means it’s not exactly filling.
Verdict: 1/10. Don’t bother. Yes it’s cheap but it tastes it.
