Yoghurt
Creepy crawlies, nasty nettles and heat rash can turn summer into a bummer. Here are 10 old-fashioned fix-its our granny used to treat burns, scrapes and other warm-weather ailments to make sure your summer goes with a bang, not an ouch.
What: yoghurt
Good for: sunburn. Apply the yoghurt all over the affected area, leave for 20 minutes, and then rinse off. It may be a little messy, but it will quickly have a soothing effect.
Why: yoghurt contains a number of enzymes and acids which are perfect for damaged tissue, while the lactic acid it contains helps re-balance your skin’s PH levels. Plus, having been taken from the fridge, it will help to cool the area, providing further relief.
