Unemployment hits 14-year high
The recession means the UK's job market is in carnage. We take a look at how the economic slump is affecting British careers.
Unemployment has reached a 14-year high after a 210,000 rise in the three months to July, reports the Office for National Statistics.
The rise means there are now 2.47 million people out of work in the UK, with 1.6 million of those claiming Jobseekers Allowance.
The recession is hitting 16-24-year-olds particularly hard, with 19.7 per cent in this age group, or one in five, looking for work.
