New Polo and Golf GTI
Volkswagen’s range renewal is continuing apace. The latest arrivals are an all-new version of the Polo supermini and the sixth generation of an all-time classic Golf.
The challenging roads around the Mid Wales mountains provided highly suitable surroundings in which to drive the latest arrivals from VW.
The Polo, Volkswagen’s supermini, has reached its fifth generation some 35 years after first joining the VW line-up. Unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March and hitting UK roads on 16 October, the all-new model is the biggest Polo yet.
Ever since the sixth generation of the Golf arrived at the start of the year the petrolheads have been waiting for the GTI version – no surprise when you consider that the first GTI, launched in 1973 as a 5,000-model limited edition, became a legendary car, coining the phrase ‘hot hatch’.
