Eddie Irvine

Fast cars, fast women and generally living life in the fast lane is what Eddie Irvine is all about. After covering the 2007 F1 season for Virgin Media in his controversial style, Eddie took time out to answer a few questions of the motoring variety.

VM: What cars do you have in your garage?

Eddie Irvine: I have a 550 Maranello Ferrari, Rolls Royce Phantom, Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes 560 SL.

VM: Do you think what car you drive is important to the ladies?

Eddie Irvine: Urm . . . . . I doubt it. Everyone seems to have a nice car these days!

VM: What’s the fastest you’ve ever driven in a road car?

Eddie Irvine: Probably about 180mph in a Porsche 959.

VM: What winds you up about other drivers?

Eddie Irvine: The way that when you overtake someone they will sometimes flash you! You get on with your life and I’ll get on with mine!

VM: Do men or women make better drivers?

Eddie Irvine: I think women are a lot more cautious so I guess it depends on what you want!

VM: What’s in your car CD player?

Eddie Irvine: I actually listen to serious radio, especially the satellite radio in America because it’s crystal clear and there are a few good channels.

VM: When were you last happiest in a car?

Eddie Irvine: Driving down the Pacific Coast highway in my Rolls Royce Phantom.

VM: Is there a car that you’d love to drive but haven’t had the chance?

Eddie Irvine: Erm . . . not really. I’ve driven everything I’ve wanted to drive. I wouldn’t mind driving a Ford GT come to think of it. But my favourite of all time was the 959. I loved it but it wasn’t very reliable.
