It worked with The Queen, it worked with The King's Speech and by jove, it'll probably work with The Iron Lady – biopics of British political figureheads are like catnip to Academy voters. This bio of Maggie Thatcher – the aforementioned ferrous female – has the added bonus of Oscar-magnet Meryl Streep in the lead role. It may not get much box-office bank from the generation from whom Maggie stole school milk, but it's a British drama, luvvie, and we do so love to celebrate our own.
