Another climate-based doomsday set-up, but there are no Mayan overtones to this apocalypse. A more pyrotechnic take on Al Gore's warnings about climate change, The Day After Tomorrow shows what would happen if the Earth was ushered into another ice age (not that we need help with the current snow-storms), in full-on eye popping terror-vision. The stunning set pieces heighten the effect, but there's a truth behind the CGI grandstanding which makes this all the more concerning. More effective than a government ad for energy saving lightbulbs, this.
