The Lion King v Kimba The White Lion

Fans of Kimba The White Lion, a sixties Japanese cartoon, noticed similarities between Kimba and Disney's Simba.

There are well-documented parallels between many characters in Kimba and The Lion King and some entire scenes appear to have been directly lifted, including the famous stampede and the sequence where Simba's dead father appears in the clouds to guide him. Matthew Broderick apparently thought he had been cast as Kimba for a remake when he was asked to voice Simba and early Disney artwork allegedly depicted Simba as a white lion. Disney insists any similarity is purely coincidental. But the evidence (and there's plenty of it out there on the web) is pretty damning.
