It's not rare for movie fans to feel inspired by what they see in a film, but there's a dark side, with a number of real-life murders which allegedly drew inspiration from on-screen violence.
Akasha, played by the late Aaliyah in Queen Of The Damned, was an all-powerful vampire monarch who commanded legions of followers to do her bidding. When Scot Alan Menzies became obsessed with the film, to the point of considering Akasha his 'queen' and claiming she appeared to him after repeated viewings, his misplaced devotion took a grisly turn. He butchered his best friend, the man who'd originally loaned him the film, and drank his blood as an offering to Akasha, thinking it would seal his transformation into a vampire.
