George Clooney is a killer for hire that's keen to retire in The American, but after being sent to the Italian countryside for one last job, he is left awaiting instructions and ends up befriending a priest and falling for a local woman named Clara. Can he still make his last killing without these new acquaintances finding out what he does for a living? We hardly think the priest will approve.
