Vi Rose Hill (Queen Latifah), Sparrow's second-in-command, is named as his replacement - but Bernard's widow, G.G. (Parton), a wealthy benefactress of the church, believes she should have been given the position. These two formidable women lock horns over the direction of the choir as it heads towards a national competition.

"Not quite so-bad-it’s-good but getting there. The singing’s fun, though, and watching Queen Latifa and Dolly Parton lay into each other has a certain kitsch value."
