Star Wars: Holiday Special
The myth: There was a Star Wars Holiday Special on TV in 1978, and it was so atrocious it's since been deleted from existence.
True or false? True. This two-hour mix of family-friendly fun and variety sees Chewbacca take Han home to meet his family on Life Day. The whole first act, with Chewie's son Itchy and father Lumpy, is dialogue-free, save for Wookiee grunting. Later, Princess Leia sings, Golden Girl Bea Arthur pops up and Jefferson Starship perform a musical number. It's soul-destroyingly awful. George Lucas has claimed he'd like to take a sledgehammer to every remaining copy.
