Chris Hemsworth regards Robert Downey Jr. as the ''godfather'' of superhero team The Avengers.
The 28-year-old actor - who stars as Thor in the forthcoming 'Marvel Avengers Assemble' movie - looked up to the 47-year-old star (Iron Man) while shooting the project because he has starred as the fictional character in two separate films before the comic book stars were all brought together for the current production.
He said: ''He's fantastic, he started it all, he's kind of the godfather of The Avengers in a sense, you know, he has two films under his belt with the franchise before we had any really.''
Chris admits Robert has been ''very helpful'' to him on the set of the movie and he was ''incredibly excited'' to act alongside such a star-studded cast which includes Chris Evans (Captain America), Tom Hiddleston (Loki), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow).
He added to FlicksandBits.com: ''There's certainly been a few times where I've said to him, 'How do I navigate this, what do you think of this?' He's very open with his advice and very helpful. It's such a good bunch as well, Robert as an actor, everything he's done has been incredible.
''It was great seeing all of them work, the different styles, getting everyone together in one big scene, it was incredibly exciting.''
