Embrace
Bustling with Northern bravado and epic indie torch songs, the McNamara brothers (Daniel and Richard) chugged along at the back end of the Britpop era with a swagger more befitting the Gallagher siblings. Grand declarations that their band Embrace had songs big enough to fill Wembley stadium were met with fevered press hype, and a good public response sent their debut album The Good Will Out (1998) to the top of the UK charts. All You Good Good People and Come Back To What You Know became Top 10 hits, but sales of follow-up albums Drawn From Memory (2000) and If You've Never Been (2001) slumped and Embrace were dropped by their record label Hut in 2002. With the help of the Chris Martin-penned single Gravity, however, the group made a successful comeback, scoring the Number 1 albums Out Of Nothing (2004) and This New Day (2006) and recording the official England World Cup 2006 song World At Your Feet, a Number 3 hit.
