Emeli Sandé

A Scottish soul starlet with a velvet voice and love of Nina Simone, Emeli Sandé left her medical studies at Glasgow University to pursue her dreams of music stardom. Moving to London in 2009, she penned songs for Cheryl Cole, Alesha Dixon and Tinie Tempah and made her singing debut on Chipmunk's Top 10 hit Diamond Rings. Named by Simon Cowell as his favourite new songwriter, Sandé reached Number 2 in the UK with her first solo single Heaven before featuring on Professor Green's Number 1 hit Read All About It. Debut album Our Version Of Events (2012) shot straight to the top of the UK album charts and Sandé won the BRIT Awards Critic's Choice and was quickly acclaimed as one of the nation's hottest young talents. Adept at creating heartfelt, honest pop anthems, Sandé has also written for Susan Boyle, Leona Lewis and Sugababes and received 2.5 million YouTube views in three weeks for her third single Next To Me.
