Frankie Valli
Both as solo star and Four Seasons front man, Italian American Frankie Valli has proved an unusually durable talent, with over 40 hit singles. His career began singing with the Variety Trio in 1951, releasing his first single My Mother's Eyes in 1953. Valli and guitarist Tommy DeVito subsequently formed various groups before settling on the Four Seasons, getting their first hit in 1962 with Sherry, notable for Valli's trademark falsetto vocals. Other hits like Big Girls Don't Cry, Walk Like A Man and Rag Doll gave them further No 1s in both the UK and US, while Valli juggled his Four Seasons duties with a parallel career as a solo performer. Periods of lull were interspersed by further hits like My Eyes Adored You and December 1963 (Oh What A Night) and Valli's career was immortalised in the musical show Jersey Boys, a big stage success both in New York and London.
