Sarah reveals the darker side of success in their autobiography, Dreams That Glitter: "I was totally miserable for the first three years of Girls Aloud. I just didn't feel I belonged... I nearly had a nervous breakdown. I hadn't got any friends in London, no family. I started drinking a bit too much and felt I had to get home to my mum. I'd not solidified my relationship with the girls, my relationship with Mikey (Green, long-term boyfriend) had broken down and I had nothing left. I was fragile for a little while but just got on with things, concentrated on my career."
