In the late 90s Robbie Williams was delighted that Gary Barlow wasn't enjoying as successful a solo career as he was. Louise Wener of the band Sleeper recalls being in the same studio complex as him and accepting an invitation to hear Angels: "He had the reviews of Gary Barlow's last album (all stinkers) gleefully taped to the wall above the mixing desk". Williams was bitter that he'd been thrown out of the band for discovering rock'n'roll and getting so wasted at the MTV Awards in Paris that – according to the Daily Mail - "Prince's doctor had to give him a shot of penicillin".
To add to his numerous Novello and BRIT Awards, Gary Barlow was named Rear Of The Year in 1997. His was only the second male posterior to scoop the much-coveted award after Michael Barrymore shared the prize with Anneka Rice in 1986. Gary's most recent achievement was Hair Of The Year in 2007, narrowly pipping James Morrison in the hairdresser's vote.
Gary Barlow is married to Dawn Andrews, one of Take That's tour dancers. Prior to meeting the Frodsham born songwriter, Emma's major claim to fame was that she was an "itsy bitsy girl" in the video to Timmy Mallett's 1990 novelty hit Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka Dot Bikini.
