80s revival
If you hadn’t noticed it’s all about the 1980s at the moment. From the horrible Here And Now tour (featuring pitiful reformed 80s acts) to the numerous soundalikes, like synth-poppers La Roux and Ladyhawke. Then there’s Lady GaGa, who seems determined to copy Madonna circa 1982 (get kit off, be provocative).
But why is the 80s back in fashion? Sure, there was some decent music knocking around in Thatcher’s decade but for the most part it was awful, overhyped rubbish, that embarrassingly for us, shifted enough to cover the costs of a wardrobe full of shoulder pads, rara skirts and high heels.
