Xerox Teens
The sheer visceral thrill of the Xerox Teens' music took the underground by storm in 2006. Sounding like no one else on earth at the moment and slaying audiences wherever they've played, here's how it works live: five complete nutjobs named Pinstripe, Danny Fancy, Dirt Dog Cash, Uber and Nuvo bang out 200 miles an hour drum'n'bass-ish piledrivers with guitar licks and synth stabs, while a loon at the back barks out statements like Mark E Smith's demented son – in shades. The drummer has to be seen to be believed. Placed at the front of the stage, he stares impassively at the crowd while playing like a machine about to explode.
Energetic, exciting and at times utterly absurd, Xerox Teens have something of the aggressive menace plus sardonic wit of The Prodigy in their prime and as a result, could be the surprise crossover band of 2007.
