The mother of all chart battles took place at the height of the Britpop era in 1995 when Oasis released Roll With It and Blur released Country House on the same day. The fight divided the nation geographically, with northerners plumping for the Gallagher boys and southerners gunning for Damon Albarn's lads. Blur won, although Graham Coxon called it a "hollow victory" and said the whole episode had depressed him.
