Back in the day: Chesney Hawkes - The One and Only
The fresh-faced Hawkes spent five weeks at No 1 in 1991 with his ironically titled, Nik Kershaw-penned sole hit. He was so ashamed of the song that when he appeared on Top of the Pops with James, who were No 2 with ‘Sit Down’, he apologised to them that his “bit of cheese” was keeping them off the top.
