Negativland
Veteran audio pranksters Negativland have taken on some of the world's biggest names - U2, famously, which led to a high profile copyright lawsuit, and Pepsi, in their album Dispepsi - with their curious blend of media sample collage and p***-take pop. Plundering adverts, radio and television broadcasts for bizarre clips to weave into satirical compositions, the band have constantly courted controversy. Their album Helter Skelter was written in response to the media furore which followed a hoax press release falsely claiming that one of the band's songs inspired a mass-murderer.
