It's hard to believe that the BeeGees have been around making hit records for nigh-on forty years. The sudden death of Maurice Gibb in January of last year robbed the multi-million selling trio of a vital creative component, but this album, comprising their number one hits plus a tribute to their late brother and two bonus tracks, is a testament to the talent that lay behind all three of the sibling artists. This compilation charts - quite literally - their progress as both artists and songwriters who over the years have been covered by acts as diverse as Boyzone and Faith No More. It's all here, from the cheesy Sixties hits such as Massachusetts, Words and the cod-country I Started A Joke, through to the disco classics Jive Talkin', Tragedy and More Than A Woman and on into more recent(ish) material such as You Win Again. Listen to this from beginning to end and you get the perfect illustration of the development of a musical legend. Merely listen to a few tracks here and there and you've got the makings of a great party. This is an essential album for any BeeGees fan and, in truth, not a bad way to commence finding your way round their oeuvre, if such journeys be your thing.
