Overshadowed by fellow Swedish compatriots The Hives, despite having been around for a lot, lot longer, Caesars - formerly known as Caesar's Palace and then The Caesars - are finally beginning to make an impression in the UK with their punky, garage sound, thanks in no small part to Jerk It Out being used on a TV ad campaign, plus the band have been made an international priority by their record label.

However, standing on the verge of global success brings its own set of problems. While Paper Tigers is the band's most commercial effort to date it is consequently a disappointment, as they've thrown overboard most of the raw energy that made their debut album, 1997's Youth Is Wasted On The Young, an instant classic, despite Paper Tiger's closer, (I'm Gonna) Kick You Out which comes from that record.

What used to be fast and furious pop punk classics have changed into ordered, well-honed pop rock tunes with most of the passion and individuality squeezed out of them. So don't buy this. Seek out Youth Is Wasted On The Young in your local friendly second-hand record shop or on eBay and listen to some of the best garage music ever made.
