Canadian Powter is already huge in France, apparently, where Bad Day from this album has spent several weeks atop the country's airplay charts - and he looks to have similar success on these shores, too.
It's pretty standard fare, to be frank; his cheery, upbeat pop/rock songs are fine in that David Gray kinda way, namely earnest, well performed but ever so slightly dull - although Suspect could quite easily be a Prince tune, right down to the screechy vocals and uptight funky beats.
Doubtless Powter will find a niche amongst certain 30-something couples who buy three albums a year and maybe venture out to see someone like, er, David Gray when he performs live.
Harmless stuff, but hardly earth-shattering.
