Bumper re-issue of Essex dance legends '94 classic

Available on import only since 2001 and finally available in the UK this double CD set features the original album on one disc and remixes, edits, live and bonus tracks on another.

Released in 1994, before Keith Flint's arrival and major chart success dawned, the album was in part a response to the Tory government's anti-rave crackdown and its Criminal Justice And Public Order Act; especially Their Law with its rallying cry of "F**k 'em and their law".

14 years on, detached from the resentment of the era, Jilted Generation sounds fiercer and relentlessly energetic. Even the album's most commercial track No Good (Start The Dance) is a breakneck rush. As well as setting the benchmark for techno it's possible to make a case for Jilted being the last great British punk rock album – albeit one with flutes.

Of the bonus tracks Rat Poison (a fantastic chop-up of Poison) and the Dust Brothers Remix of Voodoo People are both fantastic.

Still genius. Still mental.
