Pre-historic cock rock from a land Down Under

In the grand slightly rubbish tradition of heavy rock bands of yore Wolfmother split up citing “irreconcilable musical differences” last year. Not that this presented a barrier to spandex wearing, all screaming lead singer Andrew Stockdale who has continued the group with an all-new line up of interchangable rock wonks.

Cosmic Egg not only sounds closer to their influences – namely Deep Purple and Led Zeppelin – but also closer to parody acts Spinal Tap and The Darkness. Tracks like New Moon Rising, 10,000 Feet and White Feather have an enjoyable dynamic to them that may prompt some to chug down a can of Fosters, make a metal sign and scream "RAWK," but from shredding solos to hig-pitched wailing they are so generic it’s laughable.

Of course, if you have survived life without playing Guitar Hero, hearing Physical Graffiti or watching Wayne’s World then you may well be impressed.

More to try:
Soundtrack Of Our Lives: Communion
The Darkness: Permission To Land
Jet: Get Born
Eagles Of Death Metal: Death By Sexy
