At the tail end of 2003, Alicia Keys released her second LP, The Diary Of
Alicia Keys, from which this single is rather belatedly taken. It's not
hard to see why this wasn't rushed out in a blaze of publicity - lacking a
big hook or a particularly memorable lyric, it's a rather awkward combo of
urban melodrama (ie. boyfriend dissing) and a repetitive, jarring violin
sample. A little more imagination and a whole lot more oomph and this
would be getting there - as it is, though, it certainly doesn't rank
amongst Keys's considerable career highlights.
