Avant-rock specialist Beck Hansen follows up the riff-heavy E-Pro with this blast of sunkissed, singalong merriment, one of the highlights of his recent Guero LP. The opening bars of electro bleeps and dry drum machine beats evoke the sound of 1999's neon-tinged Midnite Vultures, but don't be deceived - within moments, we're veered into rootsy guitar territory more reminiscent of Odelay or Mellow Gold. Bittersweet vocal harmonies and those distinctive guitar twangs and slides combine to create a sound at once wistful and upbeat - perfect for summer listening, and another great Beck single.
