Take a few hefty stabs of glam rock guitar, add a cascading, wobbly
electro-synth riff, throw in some vocoder action, rinse and repeat.
That's the Daft Punk formula on Robot Rock, and while for a few moments
it captures a definite frisson of funkiness, once you've been subjected
to this never-ending loop of structureless dance music, it starts to
become about as draining and directionless as a few hours on a cycling
machine. Luckily the rather excellent Soulwax are on hand for a much-needed remix, which you'll probably find yourself returning to more regularly than the A-side.
