Emo bands - do they all have to sound exactly the same? It's like there's some kind of relentless emo factory which is going to churn these groups out until the Western world's youth are so fat and bloated with emo-excess that they simply can't stomach another catchy powerchord chorus. Just weeks after Panic! At The Disco debuted with an almost identical sound, Fall Out Boy arrive once more to remind us that, quite frankly, anyone with half an ear for melody and a couple of guitars can produce this stuff. As their fellow Americans might say, this is pure cookie-cutter stuff. Still, the band are up for Best New Artist at this year's Grammys, so they must be making somebody (other than their manager) happy.
